This webinar series is designed to equip ag professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively navigate a host of pressing legal issues from employment and labor law, food safety liability, import/export regulatory issues, PACA, protecting trade secrets and IP, and more.


The series provides Western Growers members with the exclusive opportunity to learn from legal experts who serve the ag industry. Participants will gain insights into many of the practical legal issues that confront our industry.

Reed Showalter is the Managing Director of alliantgrop’s Pacific Northwest Region and a member of both the AICPA and the California Society of CPAs. He has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, tax and business consulting and was part of the senior team for several large regional accounting firms that advised clients on various tax issues. 

Born and raised in central Nebraska as a farmer (and currently residing on a farm), Reed is passionate about helping the agriculture and food processing industries. As alliantgroup’s National Practice Leader for Agriculture, Reed has helped numerous companies in the agriculture industry (such as co-ops, growers, feed mills, livestock producers, dairy farms and suppliers) claim over $200 million in credits and incentives. Reed’s background as a farmer, combined with his leadership, accounting and tax experience, gives him a unique expertise in helping agricultural companies maximize the benefit they can receive from various government sponsored credits and incentives.

Dean Zerbe is National Managing Director for alliantgroup and is based out of alliantgroup’s Washington, D.C. office. In this role, Dean is responsible for, among other things, monitoring tax-related legislative activity in Washington to help keep our clients and staff informed and help direct alliantgroup’s service offerings to ensure we are meeting client needs. 

Prior to joining alliantgroup in February 2008, Dean was Senior Counsel and Tax Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, where he worked closely with then Chairman of the Finance Committee, Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) on tax legislation. During his time on the Finance Committee, Dean was intimately involved with almost every major piece of tax legislation that was signed into law – including the 2001 and 2003 tax reconciliation bills (representing two of the largest tax cuts in the nation’s history); the JOBS bill in 2004 (corporate tax reform); and the Pension Protection Act.
